Single Control Point through a smart, programmable system – affords simple and quick control when it rains
Great idea to use linear gear to transfer control to circular gears of individual panes – technically impressive
Gears are mechanical and would need maintenance in the long run. Also, retrofitting may be expensive. Tapping on existing windows with levers to control the levers in unison would be an option.
The idea could be adapted and applied to automatic drying systems.
The useful part of this design is that the windows can be closed/opened quite effortlessly, in addition to not having the need to touch the window panes.
Some areas of improvement:
Safety should also be considered in the design. Additionally, if there are multiple segments of such window panes (e.g. spanning across the length of the classroom), how would this solution look like. I think it would be difficult to achieve that with one servo motor.
It would be good to look into areas that can benefit handicap, elderly and young children e.g. feeding, bathing, walking, cycling.
