This team has created several prototypes to test and evaluate each and every merits of their designs. The final proposed solution seems to be able to extend and clean those corner spaces that have missed out in a room. It demonstrated their vast imagination to create the compliance sweeping mechanism design to reach those spaces beyond the robot.
The ‘compliance’ sweeping belt may replace the original brushes below the robot hence the laser sensor would not be blocked and still able to work as it intended to.
The compliance concept in the airless car wheel could be something the team could apply to the project. It’s somewhat related to the solution of a compliance sweeping belt to clean corners and if there could be a compliance wheel for a robot/trolley to climb the regular staircase.
