Developing Interests Via Exploration
Student-Initiated Learning
DIVE is Yuan Ching’s Student-Initiated Learning Programme.
DIVE is a dedicated time during blended learning days for students to explore personal interests, both within and outside of curriculum. It provides an opportunity for students to learn to be independent, passionate and lifelong learners.
Students can choose to do any activity that is of interest to them, within the 5 broad domains identified below. This site also suggests some activities for students to try out.
Students are strongly encouraged to stay at home to complete their DIVE activity.

Planning Your Activity
Come up with your own activity or choose from the activity repository prepared by the school.
Do note that you are strongly encouraged to engage in an indoor activity. For outdoor activities, please ensure that you are engaging in the activity with an adult figure.
Risk Assessment
Based on your chosen activity, think about the possible risks.
You may use the template given to you in SLS to assess the risk levels of your activity and think of possible risk controls to minimize any possible injuries to yourself.
It is important to look after yourself and ensure the activities carried out are safe.
Embarking on DIVE
Please ensure you have the necessary equipment and/or materials to carry out your DIVE activities. You may approach the teachers-in-charge to loan out any equipment that you may required.
Please also inform your parents about your selected DIVE activity.
As you carry out your activity, this would be a good opportunity to build up your portfolio. Do remember to take pictures of your progress! You should write short reflections and consolidate all these on Google Slides / Google Sites / Apple Pages for your portfolio!
