The Outram Robotics Club offers the opportunity for like-minded individuals to come together to tinker, collaborate and construct solutions for tomorrow's problems. The club does this by providing our students with multiple safe platforms and opportunities to learn and work together. We tap on the field's interactive and tactile nature to develop the learning goals for our students which enable them to acquire both hard and soft skills, including the values, attitudes and knowledge needed to navigate the future.
The club also participates in local STEAM competitions, where students are tasked to design robotic solutions to take on opponents in a series of challenges. CCA sessions are when they spend hours brainstorming, analysing before synthesising and refining their solutions. Students often have to be self-directed in their learning as many of them realise that their solutions might involve the use of a programme which they are unfamiliar with. However daunting the learning process could be, this is made manageable by their seniors and peers, who play the role of the 'knowledgeable others' to mentor and teach them whenever necessary.
In the Robotics Club, we hope to inspire and instil a love and hunger for lifelong learning, a passion to build a better life for all and the courage to learn, unlearn and relearn.
