Context Setting for Stick Em! Learning Journey for Sec 4NT
Learning Journey
Duration: 3 hours

Learning Objectives
1. Develop transdisciplinary thinking through learning about the variety of roles, responsibilities in each industry
2. Develop adaptive thinking by discovering the diverse pathways taken by individuals to succeed in each industry
3. Explore and discover a personal sense of purpose in each industry
Outcomes
1. Identify a meaningful sense of purpose for work
2. Shortlist a list of skills to develop for the future
3. Explain the interdependent and interconnected nature of various roles and jobs within a single industry
Business & Design and Technology
Sector Focus & Purpose: Exploring how innovative product design meets real-world entrepreneurship in the STEAM education sector.
Activity: Students will explore how simple materials are turned into engaging STEAM tools and learn key stages of the design-thinking process, from understanding user needs to prototyping. They may also engage in mini-builds or product discussions to see how design choices influence product quality and business value.

Introduction to Stick’em: Overview of Stick’em’s company background, products, and how business, engineering, and technology intersect in their work.

Ideation: Robot Business Concept: Students work in teams to conceptualise a robot product, identifying its purpose, target users, and value proposition.

Hands-on Build of 3D Robot Creation: Teams design and assemble a 3D robot prototype, applying basic engineering and design thinking principles.
30 mins
Business Pitch Preparation: Students develop a simple business presentation using PLD, covering product features, target market, and business rationale.
30 mins
Pitch Presentation and Q&A: Teams present their robot business idea and respond to questions on their design and business plan.
40 mins
Industry Q&A with Stick’em Professionals: Interactive Q&A session with Stick’em professionals, covering careers in business, engineering, and technology, as well as real-world industry insights.

Notes for Form Teachers
Students should prepare approximately $7 for lunch at SP.
Students are dismissed from SP to allow extended exploration of programmes and campus.
No return transport to school is provided for Sec 4 students.

Please make sure you are wearing the approved school attire (i.e., Full School Uniform or Half School Uniform, which consists of the School PE T-shirt and school long pants for male students and the school skirt for female students).
Remember to bring along your stationery, personal learning device, umbrella/poncho, jacket and water bottle.
