The Best Class Award is presented to the most outstanding and well-rounded class of its level, in recognition of its impressive overall discipline/conduct, its impact on the community as well as its achievements in the various inter-class competitions.
An interesting mix of personalities, the students of 4 Sincerity never allowed their individual differences to be the focal point of any interaction. They embraced shared goals and worked for the common good. Their commitment to do their utmost in any task that they undertook as a class was inspiring. Often, they would leverage one another’s strengths and pull off the most challenging projects with the best outcomes.
Dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, 4 Sincerity was exemplary in having the grit to overcome obstacles, recover from setbacks and accept new challenges.
The most endearing aspect of this class was definitely their ability to laugh, even during times of difficulty. Through their tears, they would still muster up a smile or a laugh in response to a classmate’s attempt to uplift them. Indeed, their good-natured optimism created a strong sense of unity within the class.
Another defining quality of 4 Sincerity was that even in the most trying moments, the choices they made were focussed on consideration for others. Motivated by empathy and compassion, many of them readily stepped forward to serve in online Values in Action projects during the May holiday period. They were determined to bring cheer to their community even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is with great pleasure and pride that we award Secondary 4 Sincerity with the Best Class Award of 2020.
The CCA Merit Award is awarded to the CCA Leaders for their outstanding contributions to the school.

Dancer, actress and student leader – Isabel embodies the spirit of the Jean Chan Award with her extraordinary pursuit of excellence and her dedication to leadership and service.
As a Vice-Chairperson of the SCGS Dance Group, Isabel was a passionate performer and leader. Committed and self-motivated, Isabel never failed to devote time to perfecting new choreography so that she would be fully prepared and able to support her peers. Trained in classical ballet and Chinese dance, as well as having gained exposure to different dance genres, Isabel’s technical and performance artistry, coupled with a positive attitude and quick learning response, made her a versatile dancer who was integral to the Dance Group’s performances.
Isabel has obtained Distinctions consistently in her Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examinations, and was awarded 3rd place in the Level One category of the RAD Dance Challenge in 2015. From 2018 to 2020, she attended the Ballet Associates Course conducted by the Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT), and was even awarded a scholarship in 2019. Isabel also took part in the SDT’s 2018 production of Sleeping Beauty.
Isabel is well-respected not only for her performance artistry, but also for her work ethic and organisational abilities. Being cheerful and enthusiastic, she made it possible for the Dance Group to enjoy positive communication, cohesion and collaboration. As an Executive Prefect of the 69th Prefectorial Board, she headed the Special Projects committee, working creatively and tirelessly to plan events that bonded the school community together.
An empathetic individual, Isabel’s commitment to serve extends beyond the school community. She was an extended core member of Project Meraki, organising concerts in 2018 and 2019 to raise funds for beneficiaries of Beyond Social Services.
Isabel is also a gifted actress seen on both television and the silver screen. Her outstanding performance in The Lead, a 2017 Mediacorp Channel 8 blockbuster drama, earned her the “Young Talent Award” in the Mediacorp Star Awards 2018. For her lead role in the short film Pencil, Isabel was nominated for the “Best Actress Award” in the National Youth Film Awards 2018.
In recognition of her exceptional level of commitment and contribution to the performing arts, the school is proud to present the Jean Chan Award to Isabel Hikaru Yamada.
Asia is a servant leader who possesses a strong moral compass and is constantly guided by her values in adapting to myriad situations. In recognition of her holistic capabilities and strong character, Asia was presented with the SCGS Merit Jinyu Award in 2017 and 2018, and the Outstanding Jinyu Award in 2019.
Asia served the SCGS Prefectorial Board with dedication and earnestness for four years. Her passion for service, empathy and outstanding leadership qualities led to her being elected as Vice-Head Prefect in 2019. Bold and courageous, Asia steered the school community through the major disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic. With her work teams, Asia injected positivity and kindness into the difficult times of uncertainty, innovatively taking to online platforms to create videos that helped to strengthen the school spirit. Her love for SCGS shone through, demonstrating her sheer grit and can-do spirit.
Highly talented yet humble, Asia was elected to serve as a Vice-Chairperson of the SCGS Dance Group from 2019 to 2020. As an emotionally intelligent and sensible young woman, Asia had the capacity to support her teammates while leading them with her vision of unity. Keen to use her talents to benefit others and encourage the spirit of volunteerism within her dance team, Asia choreographed the SCGS performances in Project Meraki in 2018 and 2019.
Apart from her Co-curricular and Prefectorial Board contributions, Asia has actively sought opportunities to make a positive impact on the wider community. In 2017, she was a Care Corner Singapore volunteer and she participated in the SummeRice food donation drive at Pek Kio Community Centre. To help others gain knowledge, Asia served as a Senior Docent in the Young Docents programme, conducting free guided tours at the Asian Civilisations Museum and the SCGS Heritage Room. Firmly believing in the need to raise primary school students’ awareness of global issues, Asia chaired the school’s Open Little Eyes Conference in 2018, inspiring her team, student facilitators and primary school participants with her global outlook and reassuring stewardship.
With a strong sense of moral courage and loyalty, Asia demonstrates a sincere desire to support and serve the community. Gracious, capable and caring, she exemplifies what it means to be a Kim Gek. Singapore Chinese Girls’ School is proud to present the Rosalind Heng Award to Tan Xiao Xuan, Asia.
Cameron Setiadi is an exemplary young lady who is confident, articulate and exhibits intellectual courage. Her success in her academic studies, Co-curricular activities (CCAs) and leadership roles is driven by a systematic and logical approach to problem-solving, which is a reflection of her maturity and impeccable sense of self-control. Cameron is not only an engaging communicator but also a calm and composed leader who takes the time to help those in need, impressing others with her candour and authenticity.
As a proactive and independent learner, Cameron has consistently demonstrated a capacity for sustained diligence. She sets high standards for herself and abides by a strong work ethic, producing work of high quality.
As Head Prefect from 2019 to 2020, Cameron capably steered the Board and her fellow students through various initiatives. Always well-poised and earnest in carrying out her duties, she was key in setting the tone for the school in terms of school culture and discipline. Cameron has the natural ability to bring out the best in people, inspiring them to contribute to the community and aspire towards their personal best.
While juggling a demanding academic schedule and rigorous netball practices, Cameron was appointed as the school's internal Model United Nations Conference Chair in 2019, and Head of Logistics in the Secretariat of the 2020 Singapore Chinese Girls' School Model United Nations conference.
It is undeniable that Cameron has a heart for the community. She took part in the school’s Shadow-A-Leader Programme in 2019 which provided her with the invaluable opportunity to shadow Miss Cheryl Chan Wei Ling, Member of Parliament (MP) for Fengshan SMC and Head of PMO & Integration, APAC at the Linde Group. Cameron gained a better understanding of the needs of others as she witnessed the care and attention given to the residents during house visits, which stemmed from the excellent people skills and true empathy which are essential for an MP.
Cameron possesses intellectual curiosity, people skills, humility and compassion. Her achievements are motivated by a desire for excellence, which she demands from herself and inspires in others. She has risen to every challenge in her school life and has shown that she has what it takes to be a valuable asset and a prodigious change maker. Singapore Chinese Girls’ School is proud to present the Tan Sock Kern Award to Cameron Setiadi.

Glad that I live am I, That the sky is blue;
Glad for the country lanes and the fall of dew;
After the sun the rain, after the rain the sun;
This is the way of life till the work be done;
All that we need to do, be we low or high is to see that we grow nearer the sky.
