What is ApLM?
ApLM are enrichment modules that broaden the learning experiences of students and complement the secondary school curriculum with a focus on the practical application of knowledge. These modules provide our students with applied learning opportunities – learning that involves learning by doing, learning about the real world, and learning for life. It allows students to discover their interests and strengths and make informed education and career choices.
Applied Learning Modules At Polytechnics (ApLM@Poly)
Courses available at Singapore Polytechnic (June 2026)
Fundamentals of Robot Programming
(09 Jun - 11 Jun)
Course Sypnosis
Ever wondered how you can program a robot to do tasks? Or how robots may drive innovation changes in future?
This ApLM aims to provide students with insights on the latest trends and applications in robotics technology, through a hands-on approach by introducing the foundation and practical experience for key topics of robotic systems. This ApLM will introduce students to the different methods and technologies to program and control robotic systems. It will also offer a practical point of view on how to design systems that close the perception-process-action loop in both simulation and real robots.
Product Design and Development
(08 Jun - 10 Jun)
Course Sypnosis
Do you ever wonder why some products are so popular? Besides wonderful marketing strategies, what else have they done to uniquely differentiate the product from those of competitors?
This module will equip you with the basic knowledge of Product Design and Development. The cornerstone activity is a project in which you will conceive, design and model a physical product. Classes comprise lectures and workshops where you learn how to generate ideas, sketch them, select the best design, and build a prototype.
Coding for Artificial Intelligence
(08 Jun - 10 Jun)
Course Sypnosis
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning applications have become so pervasive in our every-day lives. Today, we are all familiar with recommendations from e-commerce websites, chatbots offering online help, search engines with voluminous information, image recognition and face detection technologies, just to name a few. Curious to know how these ever-evolving technologies impact our lives? Then this is the ApLM for you!
In this ApLM, you will get a chance to experience the fun of coding in Python and learn how to train an AI model in Machine Learning to recognise the different food items such as burgers and noodles.
No prior knowledge or coding skills are required.
Applied Learning Modules At Polytechnics (ApLM@Poly)
Courses available at Singapore Polytechnic (September 2026)
Application Science in Forensics
(07 Sep - 09 Sep)
Course Sypnosis
Do you like to watch forensic dramas and wish that you were a forensic scientist who can help solve crimes and bring justice to criminals? What is the science behind the work of forensic scientists?
The course aims to explain the scientific principles and techniques behind the work of forensic scientists. Applications from different areas in science will be discussed in relation to case studies from Singapore and around the world.
In addition, do you know that forensic scientists do not always visit crime scenes and they actually spend most of their time in labs? Students will have hands-on experience in the laboratory to develop critical reasoning skills on data for a better understanding of the nature of science.
Aerospace Fundamentals with Flight Simulation
(07 Sep - 09 Sep)
Course Sypnosis
The module aims to equip students with basics aerodynamics knowledge to learn how aircraft can achieve flight and manoeuvre during flight. Knowledge will be reinforced through practical exercises such as
Fabricating an unpowered glider to achieve gliding performance
Using a flight simulator to perform basic flight manoeuvres, take-off and landing aircraft.
You will also go through through a 1 hour sharing session to understand more about the aerospace industry landscape as well as a learning journey to the aerospace related hangar facilities and aircraft in SP.
