Assessment is integral to teaching and learning as it helps to monitor students’ learning processes, ascertain their holistic development, and provide timely intervention and support. Besides weighted assessments (WA) and End-of-Year (EOY) examinations, there are various formative assessments to monitor learning and provide feedback. These include quizzes, individual or group assignments, projects, class participation, assignment/file checks.
For weighted assessments and examinations, the school adopts the following weighting:
Secondary 1 to 3
Secondary 4 & 5
For certain subjects like History, Geography, Design & Technology, Food & Consumer Education, Exercise & Sports Science and Art, work done in projects and coursework may replace common tests.
The weighting for lower secondary D&T and FCE differs from other subjects as they are taught on a semestral basis.
Students who are absent from any assessments should provide a medical certificate to their subject teachers upon return.
The End-Of-Year Examination will start from 22 September for Secondary 3 and 24 September for Lower Secondary students.
