The idea of “Mother Tongue Alive!” was borne from the concept of the MT Fortnight activity, where pupils are exposed to various cultures and activities for two weeks.

At Fengshan, our Mother Tongue teachers want to take this further by extending these activities beyond merely a fortnight, and integrate it into our daily teaching and learning. Thus, the team of teachers design and incorporate interesting activities and lessons throughout the year, and during one week in Term 1 and another in Term 3, we consolidate the learning into 2 weeks of showcasing and hands-on activities.

The idea of keeping our language “alive” cannot be fulfilled without the cooperation of our pupils and parents. Hence, please continue to use our Mother Tongue languages daily, not just in school, but also at home, and learn to appreciate and practise our rich cultures. Furthermore, demonstrate the values that you learnt in school and continue to keep the spirit of Mother Tongue “Alive”!
