1) What are sports-related careers and how to turn your passion in sports into a business? Hear from the founders!
Jay Pal is a SEA Games gold medalist and the first Sikh gold medalist in Singapore’s history. A former national floorball goalkeeper, he was also a three-time Golden Gloves winner in the Singapore Premier League.
His athletic career was marked by challenges including a broken ankle and five dislocations of his left shoulder which deepened his understanding of rehabilitation and inspired his passion for physiotherapy-based training.
Today, alongside leading BFit, Jay Pal continues to train actively and practices boxing as part of his personal fitness routine.
Shafiq’s journey began as a professional footballer in the S.League with Home United. His career was interrupted by two major injuries an ACL tear and a meniscus surgery both of which changed the way he approached training and recovery.
He started his personal training career at Fitness First, before progressing to elite performance gyms such as UP Fitness and META Performance. Shafiq is also trained in kickboxing and mixed martial arts (MMA), which have become key parts of his coaching and movement philosophy.
His transition from competitive sport to performance coaching has made him passionate about helping others rebuild strength, mobility, and athletic confidence after injury.

About BFit:
Jay Pal & Shafiq are the co-founders and directors of BFit.sg, a sports physiotherapy and performance training company based in Katong, Singapore. Both of them began their journeys as athletes before transitioning into personal training, rehabilitation, and sports performance, experiences that strongly shaped our philosophy at BFit.
BFit was founded from a shared belief that true fitness goes beyond aesthetics. It’s about movement, resilience, and recovery helping individuals regain confidence after injury and perform at their best in daily life or sport. They observed a gap between physiotherapy and performance training in Singapore, where clients often recovered from injury but weren’t guided back to full performance. To bridge that gap, they created BFit.sg — a space integrating physiotherapy, personal training, and performance coaching under one roof. Today, BFit has evolved into a multidisciplinary network that partners with doctors, nutritionists, and sports professionals to deliver holistic, long-term care.
