Social media has dominated the online world in recent years. With this comes the question of whether social media use may lead to social comparison, and consequently, lower self-esteem. Kintsugi has come to answer this question by defining what self-representation on social media is, pinpointing its impact on the younger generations, and proposing some possible solutions.
Maps are an exceptional product of human intelligence. It concretely reflects the distribution of geographical relationships, the convergence of diverse objects and phenomena on the earth's surface. The map is not only a minute image of the world full of spatial and non-spatial attributes, but it is also an independent and indispensable researching tool to help us understand the world by assisting in human development.
Thanks to the development of science technology, there are plenty of changes in editing and analyzing maps. Computers have allowed us to create so many maps as we demand that it does wonders for researching and teaching Geography. The Geographic Information System (GIS) was created with some essential specialized application software, especially a software called Mapinfo Professional that allows us to create many accurate, scientific, and pretty digital maps. Consequently, we would like to introduce you to the result of our research into using MapInfo software (version 7.5) to build a warning map of danger to human life. The research is expected to find out these following outcomes: instructions for using the software in research; establishing a traffic jam map in Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi, Vietnam; warning about the risk of urbanization development affecting the living environment in the district.
In the past 20 years, the Internet and social networks have grown and attracted the attention of the young generation. The current situation of internet usage among Vietnamese young people today is very popular. The two most outstanding challenges are health and social life. The health challenges include physical and mental health, while the social life challenges focus on social relationships, cognitive development, and the safety of young people. Young people's adaptation to these influences is divided into two main ideas: awareness and actions. The right perception of harm leads to practical action. In terms of physical health, we suggest eating, exercising or taking care of skin according to videos on the internet. In terms of mental health, finding new hobbies and setting up a reasonable schedule are the two examples. In terms of social relationship, we highly recommend participating in extracurricular activities, in terms of the development of awareness, we should read reputable sources instead of unofficial ones, the Ministry of Information and Communication must control the content on social networks. In terms of safety, users spread good knowledge and protect personal security. Researching the impact of the cyber world on young generation in Viet Nam is extremely necessary. The research becomes more and more crucial in the age of international integration, in which young people need to understand how to protect themselves from the negative sides of the cyber world.
Nowadays, technological advancement affects many aspects of human lifestyles. For students, the most essential aspect for them is their education. Note-taking is crucial for learning over time. Technology has given students various ways to take notes, such as using traditional paper notes, using keyboards or computers, using touch screen devices, or using sound-to-letter systems. In Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, more than half of the students use electronic devices to take notes. This present study aims at comparing the learning efficiency between note-taking by using handwriting (traditional way) and electronic devices. A total of 60 students in grades 10 to 11 at Mahidol Wittayanusorn School participated in this study. Two experimental conditions were set: taking notes in the paper and electronic device. Participants have to watch videos, take notes, and answer multiple-choice questions. Before watching videos and after doing the quiz, participants took a questionnaire collecting quantitative data of their feelings from taking notes and doing the quiz. After statistical analysis, Results did not show a statistically significant difference (level of significance = 0.05). Quantitative factors such as interest, knowledge, confidence, excitement, and satisfaction from questionnaires have a weak correlation. In the future, this project will conduct experiments on larger-scale and more specific groups of participants.
Carbon monoxide, the second-highest pollutant gas in the world after carbon dioxide, is a major pollution produced from the human-made machines or factories. This gas could be the air quality index as the higher carbon monoxide density, the worse air quality. The urban neighborhood’s cumulative carbon monoxide density is more than the others and has been a hazardous issue. The gas detection station is limited to detect gas in downwind areas and the overall image is not widely monitored, by that difficulty, this project adapted Sentinel-5P satellite to study carbon monoxide in the study area, Bangkok, for further modeling in the study of atmospheric pollutants in Thailand. TROPOMI sensors, attached to the satellite, could detect gas density by characteristic electromagnetic wave reflection of each gas. This project got accessed to satellite data by using Javascript in the Google Earth Engine Code Editor environment. The study perceived that carbon monoxide over Bangkok has its seasonal pattern in which the gas is inclined to undergo the highest density in the winter and lowest in the summer. From analyzing the meteorological variables derived from ERAS, the research team appraised that the surface pressure and west-to-east surface wind velocity were moderately and low correlated with carbon monoxide density in terms of Pearson correlation coefficient. Finally, the researchers collected gas density data above the Phayathai station to quantify tomorrow's computed gas prediction model in the linear multiple regression equation formation. The completed model presented a 0.00437 error value.
We want to promote to major corporations to invest in upgrading and researching nuclear energy. However, these projects are a challenge as they require increasing government funding. The environmental threats of nuclear energy are also highly concerning. In this video, we are proposing an adaptation by innovating a long-term plan to ensure the continued survival of humans adapting to the increasing use of nuclear energy. Large investments in asteroid mining for materials to help in research and building a small moon base may be essential. The moon base can be expanded as more materials are mined from the asteroids. When the resources on the moon base are upgraded, materials mined from asteroids could be sent back to Earth. We believe with this new approach, the Earth will be a more sustainable place to live in.
Online communities have grown at unprecedented rates in the past decade. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have sought out interactions in these online spaces and have started to build a community around them. Currently, there is no study examining the aspects of community building within online communities. Thus, this study examined the community building aspect of a Facebook group centered around the discovery and discussion of food. Specifically, this study discovered the kinds of topics being discussed in posts within these online communities, the factors that drive quality interaction within these posts, and the extent community building can be found in these communities, specifically in the food discourse that occurs within it. Using the community building framework adapted from Brown (2001), 2891 comments within 19 posts were examined using corpus analysis. Results show that most online interactions are short and tend to be with people they already know in real life. It is the people who post and share their food discoveries and experiences that keep these communities active. Interactions with online strangers centered around common interests. The results of the study may give insights on how to better structure online communities to encourage more meaningful interactions and foster a greater sense of online community. A similar approach to other online communities (political, academic, fandoms, interest-based, etc.) and other platforms (Reddit, Tumblr, etc.) may be investigated for a more comprehensive theory on online communities.
