LED : Light emitting diode

LEDs are output components that give out lights. Unlike an ordinary light bulb, LED has polarity and needs to be connected in the right way for it work light up. It uses very little current and generate very little or no heat. LED comes in variety of colors.

Switches are electronic components that can be used to make or break a circuit. A simple switch consists of two contact. When they are connected, the circuit is turned on, when they are disconnected, the circuit is turned off. Some switches are incorporated into a battery holder.
