Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world and holds significant potential and growth opportunities for our students after they have graduated from the school.
Therefore, our upcoming Overseas Learning Experiences (OLEs) to Indonesia is designed to deepen our students' civic, global, and cross-cultural literacy, to gain a deeper appreciation of our Southeast Asian neighbour.
1. Fostering Global Competencies:
Immerse students in the vibrant tapestry of Indonesian culture, history, and contemporary life.
Engage in school exchanges and interactive sessions to nurture cross-cultural understanding and enhance global awareness within the Indonesian context.
2. Instilling School Values:
Confidence: Encourage students to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new challenges.
Creativity: Provide opportunities for creative expression and problem-solving in the rich and diverse cultural environment of Indonesia.
Commitment: Reinforce the importance of dedication and perseverance in the pursuit of knowledge and personal growth.
Compassion: Foster empathy and a sense of social responsibility through meaningful interactions with local students and communities in Indonesia.
3. Deepening Appreciation of Indonesian History, Geography and Culture:
Visit iconic sites such as the National Monument, Tungkuban Perahu Volcano, Gedung Sate Building, etc., to gain a profound understanding of Indonesia's rich history, geography and cultural heritage.
4. Exposing Students to Transformation in Asia:
Explore Indonesia's advancements and transformation through visits to local and multinational corporations, and a ride on Whoosh!, the first high-speed railway in Southeast Asia and the Southern Hemisphere.
Reflect on Asia's progress and transformation, drawing parallels with Singapore's role in the global landscape and identifying unique aspects of Indonesia's development.
5. Strengthening Commitment to Singapore:
Foster a sense of rootedness and commitment to Singapore's values and aspirations, encouraging students to reflect on the similarities and differences observed in Indonesia and how these contribute to Singapore's global perspective.
This Padlet will document all of the students' learning experiences throughout the entire Indonesia Perspectives Programme.
Embarking on an overseas learning experience is an exciting and transformative experience, opening doors to new cultures, perspectives, and knowledge.
To maximise the benefits of this programme, we have specially designed engaging local pre-trip learning modules to broaden and deepen your overseas learning journey to Indonesia.
Attendance for all learning modules/experiences is compulsory.
