After you have succeeded in making a toy that works, 

Use the SCAMPER tool to help you innovate and improve on your existing toy… 

Substitute: 

• Are there parts of the toy that you could make using other materials?

• Could the colour, shape and size of the parts be changed? 

• Can the process / procedure be changed? 

Combine: 

• Could some parts, ideas, features or processes be combined to lower the cost of making it? 

Adapt:  

• Do you have ideas and inspiration from other products or processes that you could adapt?  

 Modify: 

• • What are some ways in which you can change the product? 

  • What could you put more / less of? 

  • Can you add additional features & functionns? 

Put to other use: 

• Could you use this toy in a different way by doing something to it? 

• Could you make this toy a part of another toy?

Eliminate:  

• Are there certain parts in your toy that you could eliminate or simplify? 

• What could you possibly remove without changing its features & functions?  

Rearrange:

• How might you rearrange the order in which you make your toy? 

• How might you rearrange the components & layout of your toy?

But remember...

If you only COPY the ideas and make the EXACT same toy, your toy would NOT be creative OR original. 

You just need to create a toy that is simple and fun, fulfilling the requirements!
