Google Jamboard is a collaborative virtual whiteboard. Like many other Google Workspace apps, Jamboard allows students to share a document with each other easily. As an edtech, teachers can make use of Google Jamboard as a virtual whiteboard for students to input their responses synchronously or asynchronously, from their own PLDs.
Teacher can use Google Jamboard for group work (e.g. each group to one page)
Real-time collaboration is possible with the "Share" function
Ability to start a Google Meet meeting right from Google Jamboard (on a laptop)
An entire class of 40 can share the same live document (Limit = 50 users)
Version history is available for all users
Functions similarly to other Google Workspace applications, which lowers students' learning curve
Sample 1 of Students' Work on Congruency
Sample 2 of Students' Work on Congruency
In his Math lesson with 2E (2023) on congruency, Mr Phoa Zai Yong used Google Jamboard for his concept-based lesson on congruency. He aims to combine the learning of Math with the honing of cyberliteracy skills to gather and evaluate information in a safe manner.
Using Jamboard as a collaborative tool, Zai Yong engaged his learners by empowering them to discover the concept of congruency on their own. To accomplish this, he asked his students three questions: (1) What is "congruency"? (2) Show images of congruency, and (3) Are the following triangles congruent?
Students were encouraged to use Google to answer and discuss their responses with an entire class.
Take a look at some of his students' work, on the right! :)
