Home-Based Learning (HBL) @ NV
Information on Home-Based Learning (HBL)
What is HBL?
Engage students in learning the curriculum using less structured approaches than a typical school day, to provide flexibility for students to practise self-directedness in planning and managing their learning.
Provide about an hour of dedicated time and space for Student-initiated Learning (SIL), where students can explore their interests and learn outside the curriculum.
Engage students in different modes of learning.
Typical Structure of a HBL Day in NV
Duration: 5 hours
Structure:
4 hours of Curriculum Coverage & 1 hour of Student-Initiated Learning (SIL).
Asynchronous lessons to allow students to learn at their own pace.
Both on-screen and off-screen modes.
Routine:
Check featured subjects for every HBL day.
Enter Google classrooms/SLS Class Groups of featured subjects to check for lesson instructions.
Complete work at your own pace and submit before deadline.
Student-initiated activity to be planned and carried out at home. For safety reason, the plan must be endorsed by both teacher and parent/guardian. Details will be give at a later date.
