After each SIL session, it is important to reflect on what you've learned. It could be something you've learned about the topic or even something you've learned about yourself! Your likes, interests, strengths etc.
Here are 3 questions to reflect on:
1) What is one thing you've learned about yourself today? It could be something that went well during the SIL or a challenge you faced
2) How did you cope with it?
3) How can you better cope in the next SIL session?
Step 4: Documenting Your Learning Journey in SIL
As part of your Structured Independent Learning (SIL) or upon completing your project, it is important to take time to reflect and document your learning process.
You are encouraged to create a digital portfolio using tools such as Google Sites, Google Slides, or any suitable platform to showcase:
Your learning goals and planning process
Key milestones, ideas, or challenges encountered
Photos, videos, sketches, or drafts of your work
Reflections on what you’ve learned, how you overcame difficulties, and what you might do differently next time
Final outcomes or products
This documentation serves not only as a record of your effort and creativity, but also helps you build your own learning identity over time. It can also be a great way to share your progress with peers, teachers, or even future collaborators.
Let this be your space to express your growth, curiosity, and achievements!
