Does AHS offer the six-year IP (Integrated Programme)?
No. Anglican High offers a holistic quality 4-year programme leading to the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) examination, with most of our students achieving stellar results which provided them the passport to qualify for post-secondary options of their choice. In the four years of education in Anglican High, your child’s learning will be stretched through the different programmes that develop their 21st Century Competencies, empowering them to be future-ready.
Does AHS offer Subject-Based Banding (SBB)?
Secondary One students joining AHS will offer all subjects at the G3 level and only takes in students for Posting Group 3 (PG3).
Does AHS have affiliated schools? Primary? JC?
AHS does not have affiliated primary schools. The affiliated JC is St Andrew’s Junior College (SAJC). Therefore, Sec 4 graduands who choose SAJC as their first choice will be given 2 bonus points.
This is a Christian-based school. Does that mean that all the students must be Christians?
No. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and religions. All MOE schools are secular schools. Anglican High School is a mission school grounded on Christian beliefs and values.
What is a typical school day like for a Sec 1 student?
For Sec 1 students, school starts at 7.45am on most days and usually ends at 1.30pm, with the exception of:
Every Wednesday – lessons end by 3.15pm. There will be one recess break, and an additional lunch break.
Odd-week Friday which ends by 2.15pm.
Even-week Monday which ends by 2.05pm
How are HBL days structured? Is there a late-start day?
HBL and late-start day will be on alternate Fridays. On odd-week Fridays, students will report by 8.55am and end formal lessons by 2.15pm. On even-week Fridays, students will stay home for home-based learning in the morning, and will report to school in the afternoon, in the event that they have CCAs that day.
Is AHS moving towards centralised catering? Is there vegetarian food sold at the school?
AHS canteen is operated by individual stalls selling a delicious variety of food, such as chicken rice, Japanese food, Thai food, Chinese mixed rice, Yong Tau Foo, snacks and drinks.
Our mixed rice (菜饭) stall and Yong Tau Foo stall have great vegetarian options. There are also vending machines offering a variety of food and drinks. There are currently no immediate plans for a centralised kitchen model in AHS.

Can students offering other Mother Tongue languages apply to the school?
No. Anglican High School is a Special-Assistance Plan (SAP) school. All students enrolled must offer Higher Chinese or Chinese.
Is it compulsory for all students to offer Higher Chinese as an examination subject? Can students offering Chinese as a 2nd Language also apply to the school?
No, it is not compulsory for AHS students to offer Higher Chinese. Students offering Chinese as a 2nd language can also apply to the school.
What are the qualifying criteria for a student to offer HCL at AHS?
As an SAP school, Anglican High School strives to give all our students a bicultural educational experience. Students posted to Anglican High can choose to offer HCL as long as they meet the following criteria:
• AL1 to AL3 for Chinese, or
• Pass in Higher Chinese at PSLE.
AHS criteria is less stringent than MOE criteria which is as follows:
• An overall PSLE Score of 8 or better, or
• An overall PSLE Score of 9 to 14 and obtain AL 1 / AL 2 in MTL or Distinction / Merit in HMT
Will taking HCL allow my child to receive any bonus points for entry to JC?
Yes! If a student obtains a grade of A1 to C6 for both English and HCL and qualifies for admission to a Junior College/Millennia Institute, he will be given two bonus points in his application to the JC/MI of their choice through the Joint Admissions Exercise.
If my child struggles with HCL, will my child be made to drop HCL?
This decision will be made with the student’s best interest in mind, in consultation with the Chinese teachers, who will fairly assess the student’s aptitude and attitude. To continue with HCL at Sec 3, students need to pass the subject at Sec 2.
What third language is offered at Anglican High?
Malay Special Programme is conducted at AHS itself. The programme will prepare pupils for the MSP examination at the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) examination. MSP lessons are held after school. Students offering other 3rd Languages, such as Japanese and Bahasa Indonesia, will attend lessons at MOE Language Centre (Newton or Bishan).
What is Conversational Malay?
All students will attend Conversational Malay lessons, within curriculum time. This is a non-examinable subject that teaches students basic Malay. This is not a third language subject.
