SOTA Open House 2024 - Academic Open Classroom Experience

We are pleased to inform you that details about the programmes and activities happening during SOTA Open House (6 Apr 2024, Saturday) are now available on our website www.sota.edu.sg/oh2024.

This year, we are introducing the Academic Open Classroom Experience for Primary 5 & 6 students and their parents. Students who are interested in taking part in the Open Classroom Experience are required to pre-register for their slots here. More information is available on the Open House website. 

Mother Tongue Language Open Classroom Experience

Picture Book making about Youth Life: Mother Tongue language teachers will conduct a technology-assisted language acquisition activity.
Note: CL sessions will be conducted in Mandarin for both sessions. Non-CL sessions will be conducted by Hindi, Tamil, and Malay language teachers following a briefing in English.

Science Open Classroom Experience

Learn science through inquiries! Participants will learn science concepts through interactive activities in the laboratory.

Literature in English Open Classroom Experience

Literature teachers will conduct a mini activity to introduce the analysis and close reading of a literary text. This will be followed by a sharing by current IB students on their holistic experience of the subject. The session will then close with a short Q&A.

Humanities and Social Sciences Open Classroom Experience

In this open classroom session, check out the demonstration of the study of earthquakes using the “Shake it Out” structure constructed by SOTA Geography students.

Mathematics Open Classroom Experience

In this open classroom session, participants will experience learning through a hands-on approach, where tangrams are used to prove the Pythagoras’ Theorem.

NUS High School admits students for Year 1 (Sec 1) and Year 3 (Sec 3). All students will be admitted to NUS High School in January of each calendar year. They will be assessed by the following indicators:

• Academic performance in the school, particularly in the areas of mathematics and science 

• Portfolio showcasing their passion and aptitude in mathematics and/or science 

• Performance in the DSA selection instruments (e.g. tests, camp and interview)
