Primary refers to the main, or most important thing.
Secondary refers to something that comes after the primary or most important thing. Think of the word 'second' like getting a second place in a race. It comes after the first place.
Original account or material that has not been changed in any way.
A person who has direct experience of the event produced this information.
For example, when I write a letter to my friend Sarah, the letter is a primary source because it came from my direct experience.
Material that is produced using information from the original/primary source.
Secondary sources interpret, evaluate or discuss information from the primary source.
For example, when I read a news article about a singer, that is a secondary source because someone else wrote it after speaking to her.
