PPP - Presentation, Practice, Production
PPP - Presentation, Practice, Production
Example of PPP lesson plan
The PPP Teaching Framework is a paradigm that outlines the prevalent phases of a language teaching class.
There are four main stages in PPP: Warm-up, Presentation, Practice, and Production. This method is commonly used to teach speaking and writing skills.
ADVANTAGES
The PPP approach offers a lucid and easily comprehensible framework for teachers and students. It is a popular option for novice teachers and students who are not acquainted with language learning approaches.
The three steps (presentation, practice, production) follow a natural progression from controlled introduction to guided practice and culminate in independent use of the language.
The practice stage allows students to practice the new language in controlled situations while receiving guidance and feedback from the teacher to enhance accuracy.
DISADVANTAGES
The structure may be teacher-centered, with pupils passively receiving knowledge during Presentation session. This may not be suitable for all learners, particularly kinesthetic or auditory learners who prefer more interactive techniques.
The "Practice" stage frequently focuses on drills and controlled exercises to ensure that students utilize the target language correctly. While accuracy is vital, ignoring fluidity and spontaneous use can stifle communication growth.
