Join me on an exciting journey as I explore the intricacies of implementing flipped learning in the classroom. Through multimedia elements like videos, images, and written reflections, you'll gain insights into the challenges and successes I encountered along the way. Witness firsthand the evolution of my pedagogical practice, and learn how I transformed my teaching style to better engage and inspire my students.

As part of my flipped learning approach, I designed a ‘before class's activity centered around an Edpuzzle quiz on Telling Time, aimed at helping students grasp the basic concepts of reading analog clocks. This activity is designed to lay the foundation for a more interactive, hands-on lesson during class.
Purpose and Goals
The goal of this pre-class activity was to introduce students to the concept of telling time on analog clocks, focusing on recognizing the hour and minute hands and understanding how to read time to the hour and half-hour. By engaging with the content before class, students could come in better prepared for in-depth practice and games that reinforced these skills.
Video Content and Design
I selected a short, age-appropriate instructional video that visually demonstrated how to tell time. To make the video interactive and more engaging, I embedded multiple-choice and open-ended questions using Edpuzzle. These questions were strategically placed throughout the video to check for understanding, highlight key concepts (like distinguishing the hour hand from the minute hand), and encourage students to think rather than passively watch.
Here’s how I structured the Edpuzzle quiz:
Beginning of video: A welcoming note from the teacher.
Middle: A pause with a multiple choice questions, asking students to read a clock showing a specific time
End: A short reflection question asking, “What part of telling time do you find easiest or hardest?”
Instructions for Students
I posted clear instructions along with the Edpuzzle link on our learning platform. I asked students to:
Watch the video once without skipping.
Try their best to answer all embedded questions.
Come to class with one question or observation about telling time.
This structure helped guide their attention and encouraged a mindset of curiosity and self-reflection.
