Every Wednesday, the academic units will share any materials related to English Language to fellow lecturers and staffs.
📘 *English Grammar × Mathematics* ➗✍️
In Mathematics,
a small mistake can change the whole answer.
In English grammar,
a small mistake can change the whole meaning.
🔢 Math:
2 + 3 × 5 ≠ (2 + 3) × 5
*Order matters.*
✍️ English:
“Let’s eat, Grandma.”
“Let’s eat Grandma.”
Punctuation matters.
Just like Maths has rules and formulas,
English has grammar and structure.
When you follow the rules,
your answer is clear.
When you break them accidentally,
the result can be confusing—or funny 😄
So remember:
✔ Grammar is the Mathematics of language
✔ Practice makes both easier
✔ Accuracy builds confidence
📘* Tenses × Mathematics (Time Line Logic) ⏱️➗*
In Mathematics, we use a number line
to show past, present, and future values.
In English, we use tenses
to show time of an action.
🔙 Past Tense = values already passed
“I solved the equation yesterday.”
⏺️ Present Tense = current value
“I solve equations every day.”
🔜 Future Tense = upcoming value
“I will solve the equation tomorrow.”
Just like in Maths:
Wrong value on the number line = wrong answer.
Wrong tense in a sentence = wrong meaning.
✔ Tenses give clarity
✔ Time matters in language
✔ Grammar follows logic—just like Maths
