The ‘We Think Digital’ Student Competition is designed to empower students to be influencers of change in their communities in regards to digital literacy and digital citizenship.
Through this 9 weeks programme, students will be able to learn the do’s and don'ts of navigating the digital world through interactive self-learning online lessons and carefully crafted workshops. Students will also be exposed to content creation and project management skills when delivering their own online campaign for the student competition submission.
Expected hours of student commitment per week = 2 hours
Eligibility
Open to all Malaysian students aged 13 - 17 years old
Students must sign up as a team of 5, plus 1 teacher from the same school
Students must have stable internet connection
Students must have a mobile device (ideally laptop/computer) that supports Google Slides, Google Classroom, and Zoom
Programme Timeline & Guidelines
STEP 1 : REGISTER
Students must sign up as a team of 5, guided by 1 teacher from the same school. (The registration form is to be filled in by teachers)

STEP 2 : COMPLETE LESSONS
All students in the team must independently complete the 5 self-directed online interactive lessons. A ‘Facebook We Think Digital’ e-certificate will be awarded to students who complete all 5 quizzes available at the end of each lesson.
Expected time to complete= 2.5 hours

STEP 3 : ATTEND WORKSHOPS
Every workshop is designed and will be delivered by experts to provide students with deeper digital literacy knowledge. The skills learnt during workshops will aid teams in planning their campaign for the competition!
(All workshops are conducted online)

Workshop 1: Digital Citizenship
Date: Saturday 28 August 2021
Time: 10AM - 12PM
Description: This introductory session will teach students the importance of Digital Citizenship. Students will be able to identify issues within their community in which they would like to tackle for their campaign.
Workshop 2: Planning a Campaign
Date: Saturday 4 September 2021
Time: 2 - 4PM
Description: Students will learn the importance of key messaging, setting goals, and what makes a successful campaign.
Workshop 3: Content Creation
Date: Saturday 11 September 2021
Time: 10AM - 12PM
Description: Students will learn about basic content design skills, different social media functions, and how to effectively use information in their posts.
Workshop 4: Storyboarding
Date: Saturday 18 September 2021
Time: 10AM - 12PM
Description: Students will learn the tricks and tips to storyboarding and the importance of storyboarding in video creation.
STEP 4 : RUN AN ONLINE CAMPAIGN
Guided by selected mentors, teams will plan towards their campaign for the competition at the final hour of each workshop.
Teams are required to run a social media campaign on Facebook or Instagram over the course of 4 weeks (Campaign period: October).
Campaign Guidelines!
i. Campaigns should include at least 1 static post and 1 video post.
ii. Campaigns must highlight an issue or topic based on the learnings of the ‘5 We Think Digital online lessons’ with emphasis on empowerment and creating awareness regarding the chosen topic.
STEP 5 : SUBMIT YOUR CAMPAIGN RESULTS
Teams are required to submit their campaign results by the end of the campaign period. Shortlisted finalists will present their results to a panel of judges to stand a chance to win top prize!

Support the forming and registration of student teams from their school
Should it be necessary, programme facilitators will contact teacher representatives regarding student matters (ie. non-attendance, deadline reminders)
Participation of teachers in workshops and supporting student campaign planning is optional
