Storytelling is a wonderful way to help young ESL learners build language skills, learn important values, and think creatively. This e-portfolio uses The Rainbow Fish story, organized with the mountain technique (a simple structure with a beginning, problem, big moment, solution, and ending), to teach Year 3 students (ages 9–10). Through fun activities, students will practice speaking clearly, learn new words, and share their own creative ideas about the story. By the end of the lesson, they’ll be able to speak in simple sentences, answer questions, and add imaginative details with minimal help.

This clear and simple structure helps students follow the story easily, practice speaking, and understand important lessons like generosity and friendship. Activities like retelling the story, acting it out, or imagining new adventures for Rainbow Fish make learning fun and engaging for young learners!
