Hello!
My name is Miss DeMoss and this will be my fifth year teaching Ag at Modoc High School. I was born and raised in Weaverville, CA located in beautiful Trinity County. I graduated from Trinity High School where I was very involved in my school and community. After high school, I attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo as a Biology major. However, I switched my major twice! That's how I landed in Agricultural Education. (Thank goodness). During my undergraduate time at Cal Poly, I was very active on campus serving leadership roles in clubs and organizations such as ACT, CFFA, and Cal Poly's Western Bonanza Junior Livestock Show. I took additional enterprise courses as well to gain hands-on agricultural experiences on campus and served as a TA for the intro ag mechanics course. After I graduated with my BS in Agricultural Science with a focus on Animal Sciences, I returned to Cal Poly to complete my teaching credentials and Masters degree, which I am proud to say I earned in June 2019! This year I will be continuing my Educational Doctoral Program at Texas Tech University. I hope to continue to develop myself as a professional so that I can better serve my students!
After completing my credentials, I took my first teaching job at Modoc High School. Since then, I have taught Ag Biology, Companion Animal Science, Food Science I/II, Ag Leadership, Ag Business, Greenhouse Management, Horticulture, Floral Design, and Advanced Floral Design. Being a single-person department for my first three years, I attended and coach all CDE/LDE events. This included Farm Power, Welding, Horse Judging, and Floriculture. I have coached creed, opening/closing, extemporaneous, prepared, and job interview. I also served as the FFA Advisor and the advisor for all animal species. I look forward to helping the department grow with events, competitions, teams, courses, and overall student involvement!
Even better, our department now has TWO FULL TIME AG TEACHERS! She will coach Marketing Plan, Extemporaneous, and Job Interview. She will be teaching a variety of courses in our department as well!
This year I will also be serving as the MHS ASB Advisor. I am so excited to be the advisor for MHS Student Leadership because it was it was something I was involved in when I was in high school. I am excited to build our school spirit and culture to be fun, exciting, and positive for all students!
In my free time, I like to travel, spend time outside camping, fishing, hunting, kayaking, paddle boarding, going to concerts, baking, and hanging out with my friends and family. I LOVE Dolly Parton and I am also a HUGE sports fan!
This summer I also got ENGAGED! I will be planning my wedding for fall of 2023. I cannot wait to marry my best friend!
I look forward to another great year at Modoc High School, Alturas FFA, and MHS Student Leadership!
