About
I am Prof. Dr. Suhasini Abhinav Itkar, currently serving as the Vice Principal, Head, and Professor in the Computer Engineering Department at PES’s Modern College of Engineering, Pune. With over 24 years of teaching experience, I have been actively involved in shaping the department’s growth and development.
I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from SGGS Nanded, specializing in Data Mining and Distributed Systems. I earned my M.E. in Computer Engineering from COEP, Pune, and my B.E. from Government COE, Aurangabad.
My research interests include Data Mining, Distributed System, Deep Learning. I have contributed significantly to these fields through my research, patents, and publications in international journals and conferences. One of my key innovations is a system for depression level analysis using audio-visual modalities, and I have also authored books on Operating Systems.
I am a Member of the Board of Studies (BoS) for Computer Engineering at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune, and K. K. Wagh College of Engineering, Nashik, contributing to curriculum development and academic advancements.
As an active member of professional bodies such as ISTE and the Computer Society of India, I have contributed to curriculum development, university assessments, and research initiatives. I have also served as a reviewer for IEEE and Inderscience publications and have been recognized for my excellence in teaching and mentorship, receiving awards such as the Best Teacher Award and Best Project Guide Award.
Beyond academics, I have played a crucial role in administrative and infrastructural developments at Modern College of Engineering, overseeing student activities, lab development, staff recruitment, and institute-level technological advancements. I have also been instrumental in forming student chapters like ACM, CSI, and CESA, organizing workshops and industry-oriented seminars to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
Currently, as Vice Principal, I continue to lead initiatives focused on student activities and infrastructure, contributing to the institution’s overall growth and academic excellence.
