Professional Goals

I’m Ryan Brooks from Huntingdon, TN, and I’m a junior at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In the beginning, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do in college, but I knew it would have to be something with the arts. I didn’t decide what I really wanted to do until I saw the UTC tv studio and The Perch campus radio station which lit up my whole world. I knew I was always supposed to give back to the community and serve as a role model to my peers, and I found my reason when I joined Mocs News on campus. It has been by far the best decision I’ve ever made.

I got out of my comfort zone which is big for me considering how shy I once was. I hope to continue to progress within my craft in journalism. I hope to work for one of the local stations in Chattanooga, TN to start my career, but wherever my career leads me I'm willing to go. Until then I will continue to prepare by taking opportunities to job shadow and volunteer in various newsrooms to gain hands-on experience. I want to continue my efforts in Mocs News to advance my craft to mold myself into a professional within my career.
