ACL members and I have participated in several recruiting events for CARE.
CARE is an organization dedicated to engaging Chattanooga elders in the UTC Psychology Department's research programs. Participants voluntarily provide demographic information to be entered into a secure database. These individuals can then be contacted in the future if they are deemed eligible for participation in a UTC-sponsored research project. This organization is important, as it provides interested older adults the opportunity to contribute to the local and scientific communities, as well as provides researchers an elderly sample to conduct research with.
The frontal lobes of the brain allow us to set goals, coordinate and prioritize tasks, and generally engage as the chief executive officers of our own lives. Because of the anatomy of our brain the frontal lobes are particularly prone to injury. In this conversation with Dr. Amanda Clark from the UTC psychology department, we will talk about what traumatic brain injury (TBI) is, how TBI impacts the frontal lobes, and we will also explore some strategies that will be helpful for us all in strengthening our frontal lobes' ability to be our best CEO for 2019.
