Price's Fork Elementary School (PFES) is fortunate to offer supplemental reading intervention programs which are in addition to the reading instruction provided by the classroom teachers. This instruction may take the form of research-based interventions in phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, or comprehension by highly qualified reading teachers, small group instruction, or Title I teachers may co-teach with the classroom teacher during literacy instruction. These groups are flexible which means students can move in and out of groups during the year, depending on their reading progress.
PFES is a Title I "school-wide" school. This means federal funding to our school is based on a percentage of free and reduced meals. Montgomery County Public School's focus for using Title I funding means serving grades kindergarten through fourth grades, and fifth grades when possible. Title I funds are used to employ highly qualified reading specialists, purchase teaching materials for the school, create parent involvement activities, and provide literacy training for teachers.
Students are selected based on the Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS) assessment (grades K-3), MAP Testing (grades 2-5), SOL Assessments (grades 3-5), and MCPS Benchmark Tests (grades K-5).
Please contact the PFES reading teachers at 951-5834 if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to supporting you on helping your child learn how to read. Reading well gives children choices.

Whether paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if so, their qualifications.
If you would like to receive any information, please contact the school principal.
