Welding Fab Team Competition
Clothing/PPE
· Long sleeve welding approved shirt or jacket
· Jeans
· Leather boots (no tennis shoes)

· Leather welding gloves
· Hearing protection
· Welding hood, fixed shade or auto dark
· Failure to use proper PPE will result in disqualification of contest
Tools
· OFC face shield/goggles/glasses

Additional Information
· Contest will be using GMAW only.
· Most of the material will be pre-cut to save time, there is some material that will need to be cut and prepped to complete fabrication of the drawing.
· Object will be graded on accuracy of build based on print, weld quality, material preparation, and teamwork.
· Contest will consist of the following materials
o 1/8” carbon steel plate
o 3/16” carbon steel plate
o 3” square tube
o 2” round tube

Additional Information
· 4 ½” grinders will be provided in each booth, bring disc of your choice to use. Wire wheels are not to be used.
· There will be scrap material available for students to set their machine properly.
· Contest will be graded on accuracy of build based on print, weld quality, material preparation, and proper rod selection.
· Contest will consist of the following materials
o 1/8” 6061 aluminum plate
o 1/8” 316 stainless steel
o 2” schedule 40 carbon steel pipe
o 2” x .120 aluminum tube
o 3/8” beveled carbon steel plate

If the weather allows, contest will be outside, so have everyone dress accordingly.
If you have Corded Tools, please bring extension cords and splitters. For battery operated tools, have a charger and extension cord.
