The staff of the MHS Counseling Office serve students in a wide variety of ways. The lists of services below is not a comprehensive list, but rather serves as a brief representation of responsibilities.
School Counselors
The primary goal of the school counselor is to help students develop in three areas; academics, career, and personal/social skills. This is done through a wide range of services including:
Individual and group counseling
Individual student planning
Classroom instruction
Programming to further student awareness
Serving as an advocate for students
Referrals to outside agencies when appropriate
College and Career Readiness Coordinator
The focus of the College and Career Readiness Coordinator is to help students navigate through all the options that are available after high school. The services provided include:
Provide post secondary information for career, college and military
Assessments to discover new career options
Guidance for four-year plans
Arrange occupational or career field trips
Assistance with scholarship applications
A+ Program coordinator
FAFSA application assistance
Classroom instruction
Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment through MACC
Testing coordinator for: AP, ACT. PreACT, ACCUPLACER, PSAT
Registrar
The registrar maintains student records for current and past students. This includes transcripts, enrollment verification, special services files, and other important documents.
