B. Dyas. This Jazz Informance was hosted by Education Secretary Miguel Cardona. “We’ve found that young people often learn about certain things better from kids their same age, and one of those is jazz. And when you hear how accomplished these musicians are at such a young age, you know their peers are going to listen.”

Educational Resources for YOU

During MAAE's recent Fine Arts Education Day I met the wonderful staff from Missouri State Parks who work at Missouri's Capitol. I found a host of resources there you might want to use with your students. The building itself could become a rich and varied a architectural study, from its conception, construction and recent restoration work. Within the building, and on the surrounding grounds, there is a treasure trove of visual art, in addition to historical aspects for exploration. Can’t make it to the Missouri State Museum? They can help you with a virtual field trip. Planning an in-person field trip and want to make the most of it? They can help with that too! Either way, the Missouri State Museum strives to provide opportunities to connect you to the state’s history and natural resources. MAAE plans to feature some additional resources for review in future issues. In the meantime - >Check out their resources page here.

Virtual tours of the State Archives and the Missouri State Capitol building are available online. You and your students can explore the paintings of Thomas Hart Benton, the 2nd floor Lunettes and more. Check out the video series here.
