April 2024
Hello, Arts Across the Curriculum Team!
Welcome to our first edition of the Arts Across the Curriculum/Arts Centered Education newsletter. The purpose of our quarterly newsletters is to keep you informed of the ongoing creative work of our ACE programs, MAIN Events, as well as areas we have identified for further help in this work. We hope you enjoy this publication and we look forward to future collaborative engagement with you all!
Lauren Hanahan and Cynthia Williams Phelps, PhD
In this April issue, you will find information about upcoming MAIN events, ACE Schools data updates, upcoming symposiums, and how you can help us reach our Strategic Plan goals.
As we plan for the new year, all our Professional Learning Networks will look a little different. MAIN, FAME, and IDEA will host quarterly Zoom events, as well collaborative workshop offerings. The new program schedule will be available for school districts before the end of May 2024.
Cynthia and Lauren have worked hard this year to recruit more schools for our Arts Centered Education program. We have worked with several local teaching artists and educators to support learning Arts Integration in classrooms across Missouri.
Here are some highlights:
Shook Elementary & Jarrett MS:
Rachel Jamieson
Reed Academy: Harlan Brownlee
A.D. Stowell: Planning for new academic year
MMEA workshop presentation:
Lauren Hanahan & Katie Schisler
Once again, we look forward to the summer Arts Integration Symposiums offered through KS/MO Kennedy Center Partners in Education, as well the Springfield Regional Arts Council.
The KS/MO Partnership symposium will be held July 16 & 17, and the Springfield Regional Arts Council symposium will be hosted in July, (Date TBA).
These arts integration workshops provide us an opportunity to create and connect with teacher leaders, teaching artists, and arts educators. These interactions are vital to the ongoing work of our ACE programs.
Our Strategic Plan consists of four main areas: ACE Program recruitment and continuity, Continued program support, Action Research Publications, and MAAE Teaching Artist Training Program.
In order for us to reach our goal of establishing ongoing relationships with schools and returning schools, we ask for your support in publicizing the ACE program with your education networks. Feel free to download and share our ACE Rack Card.
We welcome newsletter feedback and what you would like to see in our quarterly publications!
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the work of our Arts Across the Curriculum and Missouri Alliance for Arts Education.
