There are many platforms where a lecturer can start a collaborative synchronous session anywhere anytime. For example, a lecturer might prefer to go with Skype as per his or her preference and convenience and that is alright. Likewise, a lecturer may use Viber, Telegram, Whatsapp, Screencast-O-Matic, Zoom, or whatever he or she prefers.
In this guide, we will look into taking sessions using Google Hangouts.
To make the best use of this Google Hangouts, the following section will guide you with step by step procedures on how to use the Google Hangouts, starting how to create a Hangout to how to manage the setting of Hangout and how you can use all the features for your teaching.
Before you open Hangouts and start your session, make sure you have opened all the required documents for your class. The required documents could include your Assignment, PowerPoint slide show, audio, video or any other document that is required. Once you are ready, start the session. You can learn how to start a Hangouts session here.
Once the session is started, the lecturer can share his/her screen and open any resource on the PC. Like that, the lecturer can show the presentation on his/her screen. Check Step 4 in "Guide to Google Hangouts" page to learn how to share the screen in Google Hangouts.
Lecturer may use Google Jamboard as a whiteboard to demonstrate an example. If he/she is not convenient or prefer to use any other such tool, that will be totally fine. The lecturer may use Microsoft Paint as well. Once the screen is shared, anything that you do in the PC will be shown to the students joined to the session.
Screen recorders are used to record videos that teach how to do something on your computer step by step because they're extremely easy to follow. The student or learner has the freedom to stop or pause and rewind the video to understand what's going on whenever he wants. They're often used by lecturers to make the class interactive and engaging. Click here to learn how to record screen and create your own video tutorials.
