MASCADA

MASCADA is the name of our yearbooks as that was the name that the founders of the MSA yearbook came up with, many people's first question when reading that is what does it stand for and the answer is not super clear but it stands for Math and Science Academy in a roundabout way. MA - Math, SC - Science, ADA - Academy.

Yearbook has been a part of MSA from it's founding, the yearbook has changed since that first school year and has formed a more uniform layout we use but yearbook being done by the students remains the same as it was the 1999-2000 school year, though yearbook has been changed from a club to a class after a very difficult year when there was only 4 editors working on the entire yearbook and something had to be done.

A big part of yearbook that has carried through to the class is the leadership, also known as the editors, the editors have changed in name and role over the past few years but this year we have a lead editor, associate editor, photo editor, and text editor that will make up our leadership of the class along with the teacher Mrs. Seif. Most of the staff biographies were written as class assignments about another yearbook staff member or editor this year.

Lead Editor: Madison Levitt

I have been an editor for the past 6 years now and been involved in yearbook since 6th grade, I am very passionate about the yearbook and having it as something to remember the year by, I also really enjoy being able to work with a new group of people each year even though I would hope to have some students retaking the class as well. Yearbook is a fun way to meet new people and be involved in the MSA community.

Assistant Editor: Charlotte Dinger

Charlotte Dinger is an editor for the MSA Yearbook. She has been doing yearbook for a year now and stepped into the role of editor when she came back this year. She is currently taking two AP classes: AP Chemistry and AP Literature and Composition. AP Literature is her favorite class at MSA and she says, “Getting to know the flesh of the story and understanding writers and also kind of, read better is fascinating to me”. Outside of school her hobbies include reading, writing, and hanging out with her family. She has two little nieces that she adores dearly. In the future she would like to be a STEM major and hopefully, a degree in creative writing. Relating to our yearbook theme, her favorite type of music is R&B and one of her favorite R&B songs is “Julia” by SZA.

Text Editor: Charli Grubish

Charli Grubish, originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, appreciates the vibrant atmosphere of her home state. As an active participant in school theater, she has taken up the challenge of learning Japanese and Chinese as part of her extracurricular pursuits. Her fascination with acquiring new languages stems from her desire to constantly expand her knowledge and abilities. Charli's decision to join the yearbook team is attributed to her passion for photography and her longstanding interest in creating and designing yearbooks. Reflecting on her accomplishments brings her great satisfaction. One particular highlight from her theater involvement was her dedicated work on the production of Shrek, where she wholeheartedly invested her efforts as a stage manager responsible for props and other on-stage elements. Graduating as a manager, Charli is eagerly preparing for the next phase of her academic journey and plans to participate in PSEO next year. While Charli's professional pursuits have varied, she currently finds fulfillment as a graphic designer, valuing the dynamic nature of the field and the fact that it only necessitates a two-year degree.
