Biography_Wei Chen

Dr. Wei Chen is a principal investigator in materials chemistry, biomaterials, and nanomedicine, with interdisciplinary expertise across materials science, chemistry, nanotechnology, biomedical engineering, and RNA technology. His research focuses on developing macrophage-engineering nanomedicine, drug delivery technology, and engineered living therapeutics to modulate local immune responses for the treatment of cancer, atherosclerosis, inflammation, and aging. He has pioneered innovative platforms, including integrative nano/biomaterials, siRNA/mRNA nanomedicines, and targeted nanoparticles, enabling precise and tissue-specific therapeutic delivery.

Dr. Chen has received many awards and honors, including the 2025 Moderna Taiwan mRNA Innovation Awards, 2030 National Science and Technology Council Cross-Generation Young Scholars Program (Emerging Young Scholars), 2024 Royal Society of Chemistry (Nanoscale Emerging Investigator Award), 2024 Taiwan Nanomedicine Society ("Dr. Yun MOU" Outstanding Young Scholar Award), 2023 American Heart Association (AHA) (Transformational Project Award, Co-Investigator), 2022 International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) (Young Scientist Award), and etc. Moreover, he was elected to 2025 Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) HOPE Fellow, 2025 Fellow of the Materials Tech, Global Nonprofit Organization (GNO), and etc. Dr. Chen has published over 60 peer-reviewed papers, with about 30 papers as first author or corresponding author in Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Reviews Cardiology, Nature Cardiovascular Research, Circulation, Nature Communications, Science Advances, Cell Biomaterials, J. 陳緯博士專精於材料化學、生物材料與奈米醫學領域，具備橫跨材料科學、化學、奈米技術、生物醫學工程與RNA奈米技術的跨領域專長。他的研究致力於開發巨噬細胞工程奈米醫藥，藥物遞送技術，與工程化活性藥物，透過調控局部免疫反應，以應用於癌症、動脈粥狀硬化、發炎及老化等疾病之治療。他並建立多項創新技術平台，包括整合型生物材料、siRNA/mRNA奈米藥物，以及具精準組織靶向能力的奈米載體，以達到高精準度的治療遞送。
