Individual Counseling Sessions
Student Individual Counseling Sessions are goal focused and short term. The purpose of the sessions are to help students identify consequences and create alternative solutions. Below are a few reasons to see Mrs. Thompson, the School Counselor:
Booking an Appointment
To prevent students from missing instructional learning, students are encourage to book an appointment with Mrs. Thompson during their lunch time or recess. Students can schedule an appointment by clicking here.
Confidentiality
All individual counseling sessions are confidential UNLESS, a student expresses they want to hurt themselves, hurt others, someone is hurting them, or someone else's safety is at risk. In an event where confidentiality has to be broken, parents will be notified and receive more details on next steps.
Small Groups also known as Group Counseling consist of about 4-8 students and meet between 5-6 sessions. These peer support groups assists students who are struggling with the same or similar issues. Parents must sign the consent form and email it to Mrs. Thompson at tthompson@mmlcs.org for their student to participate in small groups. The parent consent form will be posted on the Guidance Corner's home page at the bottom right in the near future.
