MMCRU High School
MMCRU High School is located in Marcus, Iowa. It is a 9-12 building that serves the communities of Marcus, Meriden, Cleghorn, Remsen, and Union Township. Located in the Northwest portion of the state, the school is part of a whole grade sharing agreement that includes Remsen-Union and Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn school districts.
The student body is culturally diverse with a population that is 5.16% Hispanic, 11.15% African American, 87.68% White, .57% Asian, .57% Pacific Islander, .29% Native American, and 4.58% multiracial.
MMCRU is a four-year public high school focused on college and career preparation, enrolling 150 students in grades 9–12. MMCRU is accredited through the Iowa Department of Education.
The MMCRU high school curriculum is oriented in a 9-period schedule. Nine credits per semester is the maximum course load. Students take a minimum of four core classes (math, science, social studies, and language arts), along with up to five elective courses. Each class meets daily. All students must take a minimum of seven credits each semester.
MMCRU offers a United States History AP® course as well as college composition and literature courses taught by district staff who have masters degrees in these areas. Overall 30% of staff have advanced masters degrees with 10% currently enrolled in a masters program.
MMCRU partners with Northwest Iowa Community College to offer in-house welding courses as well as online courses in the areas of psychology, western civilizations, philosophy, communications, and medical terminology.
MMCRU offers a variety of extracurricular activities and programs which include: volleyball, football, cross country, bowling, archery, basketball, track and field, golf, baseball, softball, choir, band, solo and small group music performance, individual and group speech.
Students can also become involved in organizations such as National Honor Society, FFA, Skills USA, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes,

Grade Point Average (GPA) Calculation
To determine a high school student’s grade point average, all letter grades are based on a 4.000 system. Teachers give a semester exam or a cumulative project at the end of each semester which is 10% of the semester grade. All courses offered by MMCRU are counted towards GPA calculations.

Each student who attends MMCRU must obtain 54 credits to graduate, of those students must meet the following subject requirements: English 8 credits, Science 6 credits, Social Studies 6 credits, PE 4 credits, Health 2 credits, Guidance 1 credit, Workplace Readiness 1 credit, Personal Finance 1 credit.
