Advanced Art - Ms. Bogucz
In Advanced Art you will be able to explore your preferred artistic style of drawing, painting, sculpture, digital painting, and graphic design! Here you will research, conduct sketches and finish with a small concentration portfolio of your work. Students will be given the opportunity to create a series or works in a chosen theme! You will also have the opportunity to design next year's yearbook cover and agenda cover!

Band - Mr. Buzzelli
Students will perform all styles of concert band literature. This class has two parts: instrumental lessons and large ensemble rehearsal. Each grade level will complete skills specifically designed for their age group and instrument, play engaging and challenging music, and participate in performances and community events, and have fun doing it! Students registered for band during the day are also eligible for jazz band after school.

Chorus - Ms. Hughes
A half year elective that's music to your ears! Sing your heart out and level up your musical talents while mastering the art of confidence and teamwork. We sing a wide range of music, suitable for all voices. No experience required. We meet weekly for 2 rehearsals as well as sectionals, all during the school day. Join the chorus and let your musical journey begin!

Intro to Computer Programming & Coding - Mrs. Miele - Semester 2 ONLY (January - June)
Whether you have never done programming or coding before and want to try it, or you already have some experience and want to grow, come explore and learn about computer programming and coding. Students will work in different computer languages (examples: Python, HTML) and will have the opportunity to learn other computer languages, as well. Some learning platforms that may be utilized in this class are: Code.org, Microsoft MakeCode with Microbits and Finch robots, Carnegie Mellon University’s CS Academy, CodeHS, and CodeCademy. Students will work at their own pace with teacher guidance and can work independently and/or collaborate with classmates.

Intro to the Stock Market & Investing - Mrs. Miele - Semester 1 ONLY (September - January):
This is a new, fun educational elective designed to introduce middle school students to the fundamentals of investing and the stock market. Students will learn through interactive lessons and each student will create their own simulated portfolio and track its progress. Students will learn how to analyze market trends, understand economic factors, and make informed investment decisions. Students will learn the pros and cons of various types of investments, including stocks, bonds, ETFs, REITs, and mutual funds.

Movie Production - Ms. Bogucz
Are you a fan of animated movies and TV shows? If so - come and join 9th period to learn the art of stop motion animation! Here you will create and learn about character design, environmental design, set design, storyboarding and the process to create a stop motion animation short film.

String Orchestra - Ms. Kemp
Students who play a stringed instrument such as violin, viola, cello or string bass have the opportunity to perform in String Orchestra! These students meet for rehearsal twice a week to work on ensemble performance skills and study a wide array of instrumental repertoire. Students also meet once a week for small group lessons on a rotating basis to learn string-specific techniques.
