Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Day Care Center is a stable, well-loved and well respected day care provider in Flushing, Queens New York.
We offer multicultural activities and learning experiences to help all children, independent of their abilities, develop the capacity to adapt to their new found culture, improve their communication skills, develop self-esteem and prepare them to meet the challenges of this ever – changing world.
We strongly supported by MLKDCC Board Members, who are active volunteer from the community, our skilled Staff who are all instrumental to our success in years to come.
A. To provide a safe and nurturing environment for all children and children with special needs.
B. To create an environment in which children feel safe - safe from attack by other children, safe from sudden criticism or judgments from adults. Children should be free to learn and explore without fear that they are doing something wrong.
C. To provide proper alternatives for different kinds of behavior. Children need to be stopped if they are in fact doing something wrong, but they do not need to be punished. They need to be taught. They need to be understood, and helped to change their behavior. They do not need to be told they are bad, or stupid, or naughty, or hyperactive, or emotionally disturbed, or in a way unlovable. They need to be stopped, and loved, and helped unto the right track.
