Welcome to the new Construction Technology class at Lindhurst High School. I am excited to get this program off the ground. I was hired in March 2020 to take over the woodshop around the same week school was closed for Covid 19. I seized this opportunity and used this time to completely revamp the old traditional woodshop into a program that will teach you the beginnings of an actual trade. We have partnered up with the Building Industry Technology Academy (BITA) to develop a four year program that will get you ready for the rewarding career in the building industry. Through BITA we will be able offer up summer internships that will give you the opportunity learn while on the job. This will help you decide what direction you might want to go and even earn a little extra money while doing so. This will be a very hands on class. We will be safely learning how to setup and operate all types of tools used on a jobsite. We will start out with small building projects our first year such as picnic tables. Year two will move to larger project such as sheds/tiny homes. Year Three we will learn Plumbing, Electrical including Solar, Title 24 requirements and finish carpentry. Year four is where we put all this to use and do a design build of a tiny home with hopes to have a complete functional home on a small scale.
My main goal for this class is to have fun while learning.
I graduated from Lindhurst High School in 1986. Once out of high school I joined the Air Force as a Heavy Equipment Operator. I wanted to see the world, they sent me to Beale AFB. I have wore many hats in my life time, mostly in construction. I have over 35 years experience working in the trades doing everything from Framing Houses, Roofing, Electrical, Plumbing, Finish Carpentry, Foundations, and I have over 20 years experience in AutoCAD design in the Civil Engineering Field. As a former cabinet shop owner I have seen the need for kids to learn a trade and I am here hopefully to spark that interest in you. Lets see what we can inspire you to do.
As for me on the personal side. I love the outdoors. I love to fish and spend time on the water. I like to spend time camping and being with my family. I have one girl and two boys. All grown. The best thing in life are my three granddaughters and one grandson.
