ENGLISH 11
Class Description: English 11 is aligned with the state's eleventh grade Language Arts Common Core Standards. In addition to the skills outlined in the standards, we will explore American Literature through both fiction and nonfiction texts. We will read short stories, speeches, newspaper/magazine articles, and informational texts. We will write on a daily basis and read on most days. The purpose of this class is to improve upon the critical thinking and reading and writing skills already possessed to make it possible for you to achieve your dreams.
Attitude: Be respectful towards all members of our class and school community. We will be discussing topics that require sensitivity and it is expected that each student will exhibit those qualities in the classroom. A civil, open, and intelligent exchange of ideas is crucial to the success of the class. Keep a positive mindset, we will get through this class together no matter how difficult or frustrating you may become. If you put forth the effort needed on a consistent basis you should succeed.
Plagiarism: according to Dictionary.com, plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as one’s own.
Long distance learning seems to make it more desirable for some to commit plagiarism instead of using one’s own abilities. Plagiarism will result in the notification of Mr. Jones, Mrs. Perez, and the plagiarizer’s parent. The student will also receive a zero for the assignment.
