Welcome to 1st grade at Ella Elementary!
We are looking forward to starting a brand new year. First grade is challenging yet exciting. This year we will focus on reading, writing, and math skills. Additionally, we will help your child develop social and emotional skills to last a lifetime.

Goals for the Year
In reading this year, your child will learn how to read grade-level text fluently and accurately. We will build comprehension skills and reading strategies. In math, your child will develop skills in number sense, operation and computation, geometry, measurement and problem-solving. In writing, students will learn how to write opinion, narrative, and informative pieces. In science, students will be learning about light and sound waves, life science, and earth and space. In social studies, your child will be learning about government and civics, geography, cultures, economics, and gain historical perspectives.
