Welcome back to school! I will be your child’s first grade teacher. I am excited to work with you and your learner this coming school year. Since I will be spending a significant amount of time with your child, both virtually and eventually in person, I thought you might like to know a little about me.
I live in Sacramento with my wonderful husband, Mark. We have three daughters, Haley (15), Lola (4 ½), and Lily (1 ½ ). This will be my 10th year teaching 1st grade at Mary Covillaud Elementary. I graduated from California State University, Chico with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. I later returned to CSU, Chico to earn a Multiple Subjects California Teaching Credential. I have experience teaching, 2nd, 4th, & 5th grade; however 1st grade, without a doubt, is my favorite grade level. It is my mission to help all my students feel successful, and it is my hope that over this next year they develop a desire to become life-long learners.
We have a unique and challenging school year ahead that will include much to explore, experience, and learn! Much will be expected of your child as a first grader, but I am confident these expectations will produce positive outcomes that will help your learner advance academically. As your child continues to grow and learn, I hope that you will view me as someone you can count on to care for your child’s academic progress as well as his or her emotional well-being. In my experience, children learn best when teachers and parents work together to achieve the same goals. This year in particular, it is vital we work as a team. I appreciate open communication with families, since my students are of high priority. You may be certain that I will work diligently to help them in any way that I can.
With that in mind, please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns about your child or our classroom (both physical and digital). There are several ways for you to get in touch with me. You may call my direct line at school 530.741.6121 ext. 4124, if I am not in the classroom, a voicemail will be sent straight to my email. You can e-mail me at adevitto@mjusd.com, or contact me on ClassDojo. I have included a link to ClassDojo below. I will be posting several other documents pertaining to curriculum, our digital classroom, and other important information. Thank you in advance for your support this coming year. I look forward to an new and wonderful learning journey in first grade with each of you and your children.
