Joel Derry is the junior varsity volleyball coach for the women’s volleyball team and varsity coach of the men’s volleyball team as well as a Math teacher at MHS. It is his sixth year teaching and third year coaching volleyball at MHS. He coached volleyball for two years at Central Valley High School in Shasta Lake, CA in the early 2000s. He lives in Olivehurst with his wife Aly and daughters Octavia and Penelope.

Coach Derry has loved volleyball ever since he set up a volleyball net between two trees and played over Christmas break with his friends when he was a freshman in high school. He played in high school and college and plays any chance he can get. He hopes that his players will become lifelong fans of the sport and their experiences in high school will encourage them to continue playing throughout their lives.
