Synthesis and Operability Strategies for

Computer-Aided Modular Process Intensification

Driving Systematic Innovation

Modular chemical process intensification (MCPI) offers the potential to substantially improve chemical and manufacturing processes by realizing step changes in profitability, sustainability, and energy efficiency. Entailing novelty and creativity, MCPI strives to go beyond the existing unit operation solutions and to intensify unit performances such as by integrating multifunctional tasks and enhancing fundamental mass and heat transfer rates.

In this book, we introduce a unified framework for the SYNthesis of Operable ProcesS Intensification Systems (SYNOPSIS). For each key methodology of this framework (e.g., process synthesis, flexibility and safety analysis, multi-parametric control), we present in detail the corresponding basic principles, mathematical model formulation, solution algorithm, and step-by-step implementation guidance on key procedures. The book is thus self-contained to enable the readers to learn and apply the techniques to your research and industrial problems of interest.
