Detailed History : 

​Arbi Falls, located near Manipal in Karnataka's Udupi district, is a seasonal waterfall that becomes a captivating natural spectacle during the monsoon months. Situated approximately 3 kilometers from Manipal town, the falls are nestled in the serene surroundings of Badagabettu village. The waterfall originates from the hill behind the Vaishnavi Durga Temple in Dasharath Nagar, with a short trek of about 100 meters leading visitors through lush greenery to the site. ​

Historically, the region around Arbi Falls has been influenced by various dynasties, including the Alupas and the Vijayanagara Empire, contributing to its rich cultural tapestry. While the falls themselves may not have specific historical events associated with them, their presence in this culturally significant area adds to their allure. The name "Arbi" is commonly used in the Tulu language to denote a waterfall, reflecting the linguistic heritage of the region.

ವಿಸ್ತೃತ ಇತಿಹಾಸ  : 

ಆರ್ಬಿ ಜಲಪಾತವು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಮಣಿಪಾಲದ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಡಗಬೆಟ್ಟು ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಬಳಿ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಮಣಿಪಾಲದಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 3 ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈ ಋತುವಿನ ಆಧಾರಿತ ಜಲಪಾತವು, ದಶರಥ್ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ವೈಷ್ಣವಿ ದುರ್ಗಾ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಹರಿದು ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ದೇವಾಲಯದಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 100 ಮೀಟರ್ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಣ್ಣ ನಡಿಗೆ ಹಾದಿಯಿದೆ, ಇದು ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಜಲಪಾತದವರೆಗೆ ಕರೆದೊಯ್ಯುತ್ತದೆ. ​

ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶವು ಅಲುಪರು ಮತ್ತು ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳಂತಹ ವಿವಿಧ ರಾಜವಂಶಗಳ ಪ್ರಭಾವವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು, ಇದರ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. "ಆರ್ಬಿ" ಎಂಬ ಪದವು ತುಳು ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ "ಜಲಪಾತ" ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ, ಇದು ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಭಾಷಾ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
