Didupe Waterfalls, also called Kadamagundi Jalapatha located near Didupe village in the Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada, has long remained a hidden treasure known mostly to the local communities. The waterfall is part of the Shirlalu stream that originates in the dense Western Ghats, one of the most ecologically rich regions of India. The stream weaves through thick forests and later cascades down rocky terrain to form the picturesque Didupe Falls.
For generations, this site has been regarded with a quiet reverence by the locals. Elders in the region often recount stories of sages who are believed to have meditated in the nearby forests, drawing spiritual energy from the untouched surroundings. Though not officially marked as a heritage site, Didupe has always been a place of peace and natural healing.
In recent years, students, nature lovers, and adventure seekers have begun to explore this location more frequently. Thanks to efforts from environmentally conscious groups and local guides, Didupe Waterfalls is now gently stepping into the tourism map of Karnataka—offering a raw, off-grid experience without compromising the sanctity of nature.
ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಬೆಳ್ತಂಗಡಿ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ದಿಡುಪೆ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಬಳಿ ಇರುವ ಕಡಮಗುಂಡಿ ಜಲಪಾತ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ದಿಡುಪೆ ಜಲಪಾತವು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವ ಗುಪ್ತ ನಿಧಿಯಾಗಿ ಉಳಿದಿದೆ. ಈ ಜಲಪಾತವು ಭಾರತದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪರಿಸರೀಯವಾಗಿ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾದ ದಟ್ಟವಾದ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಘಟ್ಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟುವ ಶಿರ್ಲಾಲು ಹೊಳೆಯ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಹೊಳೆ ದಟ್ಟವಾದ ಕಾಡುಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಹೆಣೆಯುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಂತರ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಭೂಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಧುಮುಕುತ್ತದೆ, ಇದು ಸುಂದರವಾದ ದಿಡುಪೆ ಜಲಪಾತವನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಇತ್ತೀಚಿನ ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು, ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ಪ್ರಿಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಹಸ ಅನ್ವೇಷಕರು ಈ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಅನ್ವೇಷಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪರಿಸರ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಗುಂಪುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶಕರ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳಿಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳು, ದಿಡುಪೆ ಜಲಪಾತಗಳು ಈಗ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಪ್ರವಾಸೋದ್ಯಮ ನಕ್ಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಹಾಕುತ್ತಿವೆ - ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಪಾವಿತ್ರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಧಕ್ಕೆಯಾಗದಂತೆ ಕಚ್ಚಾ, ಆಫ್-ಗ್ರಿಡ್ ಅನುಭವವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತಿವೆ.

Didupe is a beautiful waterfalls situated in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka. It is located near to Emrai waterfalls which is also known for the beautiful surroundings. The trail to Didupe waterfall is full of lush greenery. The cold waters fall from magnificent heights which makes swimming in the pond quite a task. Didupe falls also called as Anadka falls is located nearly 3 km away from Didupe village. It is a cozy and unexposed place, which has not yet grabbed the attention of the tourists.
Didupe town is 40 mins ride from Ujire town near Dharmastala. No frequent bus services, so it is always better to hire a jeep from Ujire. If you are heading to this destination in your own vehicle, be careful as roads are not in great condition. You have to take a left turn before Mundaje village in the Kajake route for 15 Km. The right season to visit the falls is between November-March as the water quantity is reduced during the month of April.
ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದಿಡುಪೆ ಒಂದು ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಜಲಪಾತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಪರಿಸರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಸರುವಾಸಿಯಾದ ಎಮ್ರೈ ಜಲಪಾತಗಳ ಬಳಿ ಇದೆ. ದಿಡುಪೆ ಜಲಪಾತಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಹಾದಿಯು ಹಚ್ಚ ಹಸಿರಿನಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದೆ. ತಂಪಾದ ನೀರು ಭವ್ಯವಾದ ಎತ್ತರದಿಂದ ಧುಮುಕುತ್ತದೆ, ಇದು ಕೊಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಈಜುವುದನ್ನು ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಕಷ್ಟಕರವಾಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಅನಡ್ಕ ಜಲಪಾತ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ದಿಡುಪೆ ಜಲಪಾತವು ದಿಡುಪೆ ಗ್ರಾಮದಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 3 ಕಿ.ಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಇದು ಸ್ನೇಹಶೀಲ ಮತ್ತು ಒಡ್ಡದ ಸ್ಥಳವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇದು ಇನ್ನೂ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರ ಗಮನವನ್ನು ಸೆಳೆದಿಲ್ಲ.
ದಿಡುಪೆ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಳದ ಬಳಿಯ ಉಜಿರೆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಿಂದ 40 ನಿಮಿಷಗಳ ಪ್ರಯಾಣದ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಆಗಾಗ್ಗೆ ಬಸ್ ಸೇವೆಗಳಿಲ್ಲ, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಉಜಿರೆಯಿಂದ ಜೀಪ್ ಅನ್ನು ಬಾಡಿಗೆಗೆ ಪಡೆಯುವುದು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಉತ್ತಮ. ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವಂತ ವಾಹನದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ, ರಸ್ತೆಗಳು ಉತ್ತಮ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಜಾಗರೂಕರಾಗಿರಿ. ಕಜಕೆ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಡಾಜೆ ಗ್ರಾಮಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊದಲು 15 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ಎಡ ತಿರುವು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಜಲಪಾತವನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿ ಮಾಡಲು ಸರಿಯಾದ ಸಮಯ ನವೆಂಬರ್-ಮಾರ್ಚ್ ನಡುವೆ ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರಿನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
