Please check your email for this week's weekly update!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wilde
Happy Friday!
I think we all deserve a round of applause for making it through the first official week of distance learning. I know that there has been quite a bit of a learning curve leading up to this week; however, I appreciate you all getting your children involved in our all class meetings, small group meetings, and turning in completed assignments!
I will be sending an email today with our Zoom Schedule sign-up. I want to make this our final copy. All of our meeting times will remain the same. I want us to be consistent week in and week out of when students will meet for small groups.
Please click on the "Assignments" tab at the top of the page for our current and past assignments!
Have wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wilde
Happy Friday, Everyone!
I hope that everyone had a good week. I know that the reality of at home learning is settling in for students and the newness has worn off. You are not alone if you are receiving a little push back from your child.
Just a reminder that you can take the daily lesson layout and customize it according to your family schedule. For example, it may work better to watch the 3 Spelling videos on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and do the Spelling City Assignments on Thursday and Friday. Or it may work to "front load" week with work and have Thursday and Friday be "lighter" days.
I have also added a Parent Only Zoom Office Hours every Friday 11:30AM-noon. The Zoom link is on our "Final Wilde 2B Classroom Zoom Schedule" that I will be re-sending in my weekly email.
The new Sir Gus Reading Comprehension Questions are posted both on my website under the "Assignments" tab along with our new assignments for the week. I will also be emailing the PDFs.
Also, please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. I understand that each week can be different for every family. I appreciate all of your hard work to keep your students involved and motivated during this time!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wilde
Happy Friday!
I hope everyone had a great week and your families are well. We've completed our 3rd week of Distance Learning. It feels like students are getting into a "groove" of what they are to work on each day. I really appreciate your efforts in emailing completed work to me!
I really enjoy seeing students on our small group zoom meetings as well as our all class optional meetings. It makes being apart as a class a little easier.
We will be doing one final packet pick-up for 2nd Grade ONLY next weekend. This will include our last reader as well as other learning material. I have emailed a survey to see which times work best for families to pick these up at MITCH. Please send me a separate email if these times do not work for your schedule, and we can make special arrangments.
Please feel free to email me with any questions. Again, I appreciate you supporting your students during this time!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wilde
Happy Friday!
I hope that everyone had a great week. I know that you made mine EXTREMELY special. I can't even express to you how overwhelmed I am by your generosity and kindness. Thank you, again, for the wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week gifts.
This week we have completed our Sir Gus reader, and our small group discussions on Zoom have been absolutely amazing. The insight that your children have about what is going on in the story and the understanding of the character development that occurred, completely blew me away! You should all be extremely proud!
Our spelling sentences are reading more and more like 3rd grade level sentences! We continue to focus on the mastery of subject, predicate, nouns, and verbs during our Monday/Tuesday small groups. In our Wednesday/Thursday small groups we will be discussing the "Final Battle" and the first chapter of "The War of 1812" reader.
Thank you, again, for all of your hard work with your students! I know that the constant balancing of life right now can be challenging, but you and your family are making it happen!
Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Monther's Day!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wilde
Happy Friday!
I hope that everyone had a great week! We are rounding the last 15 days of school, and I know that we can finish strong. I know that some days are definitely more challenging than others, but your children are working incredibility hard. I can tell during every small group meeting and all class meeting that each student is doing their very best.
During small group Zoom meetings this week, please have your students set up in an area where they will be able to write. On Monday/Tuesday small groups they will need a white board, dry erase marker, and eraser OR a piece of paper and pencil. On Wednesday/Thursday please make sure that they have their War of 1812 reader and comprehension questions.
Thirdly, Mrs. Hill's class will be joining our class for the final 15 days of school in our small groups and optional large group Zoom Meetings. I'm so happy that they can be part of our class, and I know our class is excited to see them on our Zoom Meetings.
Finally, next week is a 4-day week (no school on Friday, 5/22/2020) as well as the following week. I will be adjusting the weekly assignments for these two weeks. Students will have Spelling City on Thursday along with their new words, which will help reinforce the new words that day. There will be no new assignments on Friday; however, you will still be able to turn in assignments for the week this day.
Thank you, again, for all that you are doing at home to help with your child's success!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wilde
Happy Friday Everyone!
I hope that you all had a great 4-day school week this week! I can tell by your children's assignments, that they have been working hard. I'm so proud of the students perseverance with all that we've asked of them. We are almost at the finish line!
Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Friday, May 22nd or Monday, OR Monday, May 25th due to the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. You may still email any assignments to me by tomorrow at 2:30PM.
It's been really great to review the War of 1812 through our reader. The student's paragraph's on " A blizzard in the middle of summer" have been so creative and fun to read. Our new spelling words will be posted on my YouTube Channel by Monday.
I hope that you can all take some family time, relax, and enjoy the upcoming weekend!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wilde
Happy Friday!
I hope that you are all doing well and are able to enjoy the beautiful weather today!

Dear 2nd Grade Parents,
Thank you SO much for an incredible last finish of our school year this week. I know that today is not, technically, our last day of school, but it is the last day of "official" assigned work. I tell your children every Zoom meeting how proud I am of them because they showed true perseverance and had an amazing attitude throughout all of the uncertainty of distance learning. It also reflects your dedication as parents to ensure that your child's education prevailed with the constant change. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that!
Please make sure that you read "Foxtales" today. We have several important announcements about the following topics:
I have included a "Summer Resources Tab" for continued skills practice over the summer. If your time is limited, please try to read, read, read. The summer slide is a real thing. The best thing to do is to set a consistent time each day that they will 1) Read Out-loud to you and 2) enjoy silent reading to themselves or have you read to them. I will include some other workbook ideas in an email to you.
Finally, we have our LAST All Second Grade Zoom Meeting Monday, June 8th at 10AM. I will be at the school packing up students' desks, and I will be doing our Zoom meeting from there. I will send you the link in my Friday Update email.
Thank you, again, for a wonderful school year! I will truly miss your students next year, but I am so proud of the 3rd graders that they will become!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wilde
